Rolling out New Policies

Shifting culture or supporting folks to behave differently is best done intentionally for success. The tips below can help teams and staff at ACE Makerspace be successful with effective new policy communication. These are not tips for crafting policy… just for communicating and implementing policy.

  • Make sure there is a wiki page with details on what the policy is and how members should follow it. Update any relevant pages if this is a policy update
  • Make a short announcement on the relevant Slack channels, preferably with a link to the wiki
  • Update any signage in the space if the policy is an update or is relevant to tool use. See data packs, binders, and handouts.
  • Create relevant in-space signage calling attention to new/changed policy and posts. Please note this signage should be temporary and should come down after about 2 weeks.
  • Announce in a newsletter or email announcement to the membership. You can do this by writing a short announcement including links to wiki’s or videos or on. Send this to [email protected] . Include a photo when possible.
