Crosscut sled

This sled is designed to safely make crosscuts while supporting both sides of the piece (the keeper and the discard sides).

Setup

  1. Unplug the table saw
  2. Remove the yellow throat plate
  3. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the two nuts which clamp the blade guard
  4. Remove the blade guard and re-tighten the nuts so they don’t get lost
  5. Replace the throat plate

Setup

Before starting, check that the table saw groove is aligned with the cutout in the table:

Alignment

Use

  1. Move the fence completely to the right and out of the way
  2. Place the sled into the two grooves and confirm it is sitting flat and slides well
  3. Double check the blade is vertical — angled cuts are not allowed!
  4. Do not use a dado stack, it will ruin the sled!
  5. Set the blade height relative to your work
  6. If desired, use the Katz-Moses stop block to make repeated cuts of the same length, otherwise keep it reversed and attached to the sled
  7. Make sure to hold the work against the fence nearest you — the far fence is not designed to be perpendicular or used as a reference
  8. Keep fingers on either side of the block with the red X for safety as the blade can come through that block!

After use please return the sled to the area under the hand tools, and reinstall the blade guard.
