Project Ideas

Just a page to collect ideas for projects to build at a meeting workshop.

# Dual 555 based synthesizer. Input: light sensor + touch sensor (skin resistance measurement). Similar to [http://www.sonodrome.co.uk/hardware.html The Posc], but buy parts from scratch to avoid paying high kit prices.
# ATTiny version of the above. Fewer components, so easier to assemble. Might cost slightly ($1-$2) more. Pre-program the AVR’s, so nothing extra is needed at assembling time. If people are interested, can later have a workshop on re-programming them to do something else
## [http://elm-chan.org/works/sd8p/report.html playing audio from SD card with ATtiny45]
## [http://davr.org/uploads/snd_parts.txt Total parts cost] : $6.25. (includes PCB & parts & battery, does not include some kind of base/enclosure, hookup wire, or solder). [http://davr.org/uploads/snd_sch.png schematic] [http://davr.org/uploads/snd_brd.png board]
# [http://www.solarbotics.net/ BEAM Bots].
#* A little solar powered car, solar panel + cap + motor. [http://library.solarbotics.net/circuits/se_t1.html Solar Engines]
#* Think about some of the more advanced bots later
# Solar-engine-powered bristlebot?
# touch-sensitive anythings. there’s a chip that makes this trivially easy, the QT113; I’ve got some somewhere (SMD though, I was building a breakout board for them a while back, will have to see what happened to that project). I have heard that it’s still fairly simple to test for capacitance on an antenna using a microcontroller (or something like that), and not use the special chip; haven’t ever tried it myself.
