Sometimes your fob doesn’t work or doors seem not to work. Use the following troubleshooting steps to get to a solution. There is a backup key to #113 in #214 behind the door and a backup key to #214 in #113. 206 doesn’t currently have backup keys and if everything fails please follow these instructions for reporting the issue.

Please report the issue if you have to use the back up keys or none of the methods here help you!

And why they fail.

• The doors stick. Sometimes you have to push/pull the door back and forth 3 or 4 times right after swiping in order for it to trip the lock.
• Fobs Fail. They are inexpensive and take a beating.
• Access Points sometimes fail. This is harder to determine.
• Typo’s on RFID’s happen. Everybody is human.
• There are backup keys by doors and bulletin boards if one door fails and the others work.

Troubleshoot Your Fob

Step one: Check for mechanical door failure

• Wait one full min
• Then swipe fob
• Pull door towards you then push in, repeat a few times quickly

(our locks are starting to wear)

Step two: Check User Account

• Login to acemakerspace.org and check that your account is in good standing
• Check your profile and make sure that you have all the certifications needed.
• If your payment has lapsed pay your dues.
  • It will take 1.5 to 2 hours before your data hits the doors

If after you followed all the steps above and things still aren’t resolved, please report the following on the #general channel in Slack and ping @facilities

• When the problem occurred
• Describe how many times you tried the doors.
• Describe the behavior on the doors

• You Fob has gone bad
  • If it fails on both doors then submit a report using the instructions below.
  • If needed replace your fob.
• The Access point on the door is broken
• The RFID on your account is off
