david r perry “I’d like to continue my service on the Ace board because I believe in the operational mission of the organization. Helping a diverse set of people make things is incredibly important to me and our local community. Having been a member of Ace since 2019, I’ve been involved with almost all of the different (and disparate) skill areas. I’ve taken classes, taught classes, helped to design & implement classes – I believe that our educational mission is such an important part of what we do.

As a board member and recently Treasurer, I’ve come to see and understand the precarious nature of helping to run a non-profit. Helping to keep all the stakeholders together to discuss and make decisions has been quite a complex dance. It is my hope that I can continue to serve on the Ace board and continue to help others with this complicated dance.”

Sylvia Gonzalez “As a director for the past two years, I have been focused on financial discipline and ensuring sustainability, making sure that our member-run makerspace stays focused on its nonprofit mission and has a solid foundation for the future.
The most exciting moments happen when people walk in with an idea and leave with a new skill, a finished project, or a new friend. I’m proud to help support a community where curiosity, creativity, and shared learning are the cultural norms.”
Samantha “Pixie” Piszkiewicz “I am just concluding my first term on the Ace Board. This past year I led the coworking/textiles flooring replacement project, scoped out our electrical situation for potential upgrades to the metal shop, and led hiring and onboarding of two new sewing instructors. Until recently I also served on Team Textiles and hosted the Unwind Knit, Crochet and Fiber Social and Jigsaw Puzzle Night. I recently moved away from East Bay and paused my membership. I will not be able to contribute as much as I have previously; however, I’m happy to hop on a zoom call once a month and contribute to decision making if that helps the Board make quorum and keep momentum going.”
Kayla Rakitt Kayla joined Ace in July 2025 and she was appointed to the board on February 14, 2026. She brings with her a background in operations, data, and finance, with an interest in building sustainable systems that help organizations and communities thrive. Originally joining for the Workshop, she has loved learning about all things laser, 3D printing, and electronics. One day she’ll be brave enough to try out textiles…

As a board member, Kayla is especially interested in strengthening the structures that support members and the wider community. She is excited to help advance accessibility and inclusion initiatives, and to support Ace Makerspace as a diverse community hub for artists, creatives, and makers of all kinds.
