How to Check the Head Configuration on the Laser

Users should be moving the bed up and down to focus. DO NOT adjust the height of the barrel. Though some lasers especially older ones use this method to focus, our laser has a powered Z bed.

If users lower the barrel past the top reset value of the bed, the laser could take a lot of damage. So before raising or zero’ing the bed please check the configuration of the head.

This is the correct configuration of the barrel:

This “too high” configuration, while not likely to cause damage to the machine is very likely to jam up the next user and possibly cause them to overcorrect:

This DANGEROUS configuration will cause severe damage to the head, gantry rails and bed when somebody resets the Z-Axis! The machine cannot save itself:
