Recruiting a community moderator

  • Is it possible?
  • What training is needed?

    • If asking for moderator: needs to moderate easy things
    • Trickier questions around mission alignment
    • How and when to get open discuss
  • Cody: Add to thing for list
    • Trickier: Explicit… harder – looks like asking to make the decision crafty would make

    • Highest-value places for staff
  • Wishful thinking that moderators can grow out of membership
    • The trained staff as the path

Adding CNC Router management to this team

  • Pros
    • Share a lot of assets and we would compete less over them.
    • Share ideas is pros
    • Rachel manages less teams
    • Fewer meetings
    • CNC Team would be involved with policy creation
  • Cons
    • Spending time listening to things that don’t affect them
    • Draggy long meetings
    • Quality of being present in meetings impacted
    • Requires more agenda management to split meetings to make dip out point
  • Next Steps
    • Call for CNC People for next meeting
      • Make an explicit ask (# of meetings, role in managing the CNC, X-over for shop-running contribution will)
