Help and Reporting

Why use the reporting tools

Transparency and logs keep things working. Without information on when things break, get maintained or are changed we will have a hard time keeping the laser up and running.

When To Report Things

  • If the laser isn’t working correctly or something is not performing the way you are used to
  • When any equipment connected to the laser is malfunctioning, is maintained or configurations are changed.
  • When you have done something to the tool (cleaned the optics, rails, or mirrors!)
  • If you have repaired the tool

How to report Things In Slack

Reporting is done in Slack but recorded in all the databases and published on the wiki and can be recalled in Slack. We use a special slash code to report on all ACE equipment using equipment asset numbers.

Go to the #laser channel and type:

/asset AMT266 Up or Down and notes

Other Ways to Get Help and Use Slack

ACE uses Slack to facilitate communication. We do have a team that cares for the laser (@teamlaser) and the membership supports each other with advice and knowledge sharing.

Slack is a great place to post your questions, talk about techniques and projects.

You can also get the attention of the team by using the @teamlaser tag.

We are also using Slack to post about filters as a current workaround. Please post when you are retiring a filter. No need to use the /asset tag.
