Channel Journalist Duties

With so many wonderful things happening at Ace, keeping up with fast paced channel conversations on Slack can get tricky. We want to make it easy to stay in the loop by sending out a weekly roundup of relevant Channel News. That’s where you come in!

Be an Ace Community Superstar! Take a turn as Channel Journalist of the Week and compile newsworthy items for everyone’s benefit.

What the Channel Journalist Does:

You’ll be the eyes and ears for the community on Slack.

Step 1: Skim the channel regularly for newsworthy items:

    1. Changes in asset status up or down
    2. Celebrations
    3. Highlights
    4. Events and Opportunities
    5. Anything that catches your eye

Step 2: Send links to @Jacky R., the intrepid Ace Communications Associate.

That’s it, it’s that simple. Keep reading for examples.

Look for anything reported related to tool status with or without “/asset amt#”

2. Celebrations

Did someone share a neat project they’ve been working on or a personal accomplishment in the workshop? We want to celebrate it!

  • Big maintenance projects, changes, etc…
  • Program development updates
  • New Equipment
  • Improvements to shop organization
  • In depth, long-ass multi person conversations on the channel. The nerdier the better.

  • Trainings
  • Special Projects
  • Volunteer, team, and TA recruitment announcements
