DIY BookScanner

[[Category:NA]]

AMT has a DIY Book Scanner in the space. It was developed from gamma level plans published by Daniel Reetz. It is located on a high upper shelf to the left of the electronics bench upstairs. It could use some love and refurbishment and if you are so inclined, please take it down, get it working (or verify it does work) and update this wiki page.

Ready to scan. You will need two SD cards, one for each camera, in order to run the scanner.

The bookscanner has two cheap cameras that take SD cards. Each will take a picture of the page it faces, so one camera shoots the left pages, one the right.

You will need to use [http://scantailor.sourceforge.net ScanTailor] or [http://sourceforge.net/projects/bookscanwizard/ BookScanWizard] in order to process the resulting images once they are pulled from the SD cards.

Bringing windex for cleaning the dusty glass is recommended (AMT has a lot of dust).

Pages are turned by hand…
