Weekly Janome Sewing Machine Check

This post provides the steps to perform a quick check (1–3 minutes per machine) to ensure that each Janome HD3000 machine is fully equipped. This check is not for checking the operational quality of the machine.

  1. Remove the sewing machine cover and open the top of the machine.
    1. Check that all feet are in their slots. If a foot is missing:
      1. Check the shank.
      2. Check the drawer.
      3. Check the cart.
      4. Keep the machine to the side; you may find the foot in another machine.

    2. Check whether the needle has been removed from the machine. If not, remove it and put it in the box of needles. Replace any missing needles in the box. Needles are in inventory. If we are low or out of a particular type of needle, please report it.
    3. Check whether the spool holder is present (it is missing in the picture above). It is almost always in the drawer, but if it is not there, look in the cart. If necessary, hold the machine out because you will probably find it in a different machine.
    4. Remove the sign and check whether the bobbin has been removed. If not, remove it and put it on the thread wall under the spool of the same color.
    5. Replace the sign, fasten the strap, close the top, and put the cover over the machine.
  2. Check the cart to make sure all the tools are in place.
    1. Put each item into its section. If an item is missing:
      1. Look in other carts; it is almost always with another machine.
      2. If you do not find it in any cart, check in consumables.
      3. If you still do not find it, get a new one from supplies. Please report any missing fabric scissors.

    2. Check the button shelf for the pedal and manual.
      1. In the unusual case that something is missing, check other machines.
      2. If either item cannot be found, report it.
    3. Remove any obvious trash from the shelves and empty the trash can.
