Large Format Printer Quick Start Guide for Epson SureColor P9000

Turning on the Printer
- Turn on the Printer by holding the power button for about 2 seconds. Blue light indicator above power button should light up.
- Wait for printer to warm up and the blinking blue light will turn solid when the printer is ready . Note that the printer does take about 2.5 minutes to start up from power on to ready state.
- Check ink levels on printer display
- if the ink level is less than one quarter, then post on Slack #large-format-printer using the /asset command
- for example “/asset amt437 ink level less than one-quarter”
Loading Paper and Performing Test Print
Top Load Sheet Paper
- Make sure the printer is turned on.
- Close the roll paper cover if not already closed.
- Press the paper source button (left arrow) and select Cut Sheet and press the OK button.
- Take a sheet of paper to printer in order to load paper from the top
- Always load cut sheet paper in the portrait orientation (short edge first).
- Hold paper near top of Printer on the right hand side aligning right edge of paper with line on roll paper cover labeled with Sheet Icon.
- Lower the paper until it stops.
- Press the Load button (down arrow) and it should feed the paper through.
- On the LCD screen, select one of these settings:
- If the paper settings are correct, select keep settings above
- Select change Settings so you can adjust the settings to match your paper type.
- Press the OK button.
- Print your test page by going to the Mac mini (AMT362) computer and opening the Print Center.
- Right click on the P9000 printer and select Printer Info
- Click on utility and click Print Test page.
- To remove your print, hold your sheet of paper and press the paper feed button (down arrow).
- If the printer head needs cleaning, Go to the printed manual page 158 for next steps. (TBD Link to online manual).The test print doesn’t have a determination that tells you to clean the head. It is up to you to review to see that there are no missing lines or gaps in the pattern that is printed in each ink color.
- Log test print on Slack by entering “/asset amt437 UP Test Print successful. Material: <your paper media>” Enter the material you plan to use during your session.
- Sign the test page and put it in the brown binder labeled TEST PRINT BINDER FOR EPSON.

Unloading the paper
Continue to reference the printed manual for step-by-step instructions.
There is a cutter on the machine and please use wisely. Do not use the cutter on thick paper. Do not cut fine art paper, canvas, vinyl, matte poster board, adhesive paper, banner media. Refer to page 29 of the printed manual for steps to disable the Auto Cut option.
Paying for your Prints
Your print costs will be in increments of $2. This does include test prints and misprints.
Shut-Down Checklist
When you are finished with your print session, be sure to leave the area better than you found it.
- If you used your own paper roll, replace the Ace paper roll for the next user.
- Make sure the paper cover is closed
- Turn off the printer by pressing and holding the power button for 2 seconds.
- Be sure to cover the printer with its dust cover
