Maintenance
Annual
- All of Monthly Maintenance
- Examine the cleats that hold the sander in place on the table – reattach or replace if they are loose so the sander doesn’t move during use
- Examine the dust gate that leads to the sander and the vacuum tubing to be sure there are no cracks, splits or tears. Report or repair.
Monthly
- Remove and replace the sanding belt if it is too worn, torn or badly shredded along the edges
- Clean any glue residue from off the table
- Examine the cord for damage or wear – mark the tool down if the cord is damaged and could cause a short or electrocute someone
- Examine the dust collection fitting to be sure it isn’t falling apart and that it still fits snugly
- Examine the other sanding belts: remove any that are no longer safe to use (shredded, worn out). If it is the last of that grit order replacements.
- Verify that the sander works by turning it on, adjusting the belt to a safe and usable position and briefly sanding a piece of wood to see that the belt doesn’t wander
- Vacuum all dust around and under the sander, and from inside as much as possible
