Miter saw basics
What does a miter saw do?
Miter saws are designed to make angled cuts (e.g. for moulding, trim work, rafters and other general carpentry applications) and can also make straight crosscuts.
Use, rules, and safety
- The miter saw must be used with dust collection (AMT085 Jet Mobile Dust Collector).
- Use stands to support long pieces that extent beyond the base of the miter saw.
- The miter saw can be locked / unlocked with the pin on the left side behind the blade. To unlock, push the miter saw handle down and pull the pin.
- To reduce tear out, move the blade down slowly when making a cut.
- Never place hands inside the region indicated on the based when making a cut (see image below).
