In Sept 2022 a new CNC router was installed, requiring a reorganization of the back room layout in the workshop.  The shop leadership is using this as an opportunity to update other aspects of the shop for better use of space, better accessibility, and more efficient dust collection.  This page serves as a hub for this process.

CNC Router

A new, larger CNC router is in place and sheet goods storage has been moved as a result.  The workbench for the miter saw was shortened and moved closer to the door and the hardware storage unit has been temporarily removed.

Shop Accessibility Improvements

Well meaning shop users have implemented some awesome storage solutions that are unfortunately not accessible for everyone.  There is an effort to bring more tools down to a more accessible level for the average user.  A new workbench has been built and installed to increase the amount of reachable workspace. New storage for hardware will incorporated into the wall work bench in the front room.

Dust Collection Improvements

We have a *lot* of tools connected to our cyclone dust collection system as well as several standalone shopvacs that have to be emptied individually.  This system is being redesigned to be more energy efficient and to connect to more tools.
