Sanding and Sanding Tools

Ace Makerspace as a lot of sanding tools and equipment. Included on this page are all the sanding tools and important information about sanding in the workshop.

IMPORTANT. Wood sanding should only be done in the workshops! And only with dust collection.

Universal Adaptors for the Sanders

We have a set of universal adaptors for a variety of sanders. They are kept under the center workbench.

About Sanding at Ace

Avoiding toxic dust. This is an excellent resource for people to research potential sensitizing and toxic woods prior to bringing them into the shop. People should obviously avoid bringing in toxic materials, but posting to Slack if they’re going to be working with sensitizing or allergen-rich woods is the right thing to do.https://www.wood-database.com/wood-articles/wood-allergies-and-toxicity/

Localize your dust. Some dust casting is unavoidable. If at all possible orient the sander so the cast is all going in the same direction. Use the dust collection systems

Sandpaper. We do have a bin in the supply closet where members share their extra sandpaper. It is often flush with good stuff. ACE does not provide sandpaper for general member use.
